The Season of Mists II: Aphrodite
The season of mists does not only occur upon the realm of what we cannot comprehend. On a rare occasion, it also falls upon our own realm: the mortals' domain.
In its wake, it leaves behind a tantalizing glimpse of the unknown and flashes of chaos and confusion.
It was in the season of mists that the goddess Aphrodite was born. She rose out of the water and out of the dreams of mortal men, the waves crashing about in a lost frenzy at her hips and the mist curling around her sinuous limbs.
It is also where the season of mists is unending that the Greek goddess of beauty resides now.
One day, when there are no more dreams and prayers left for her, she will die. She will fade into the thick, hazy mist from which she was born.
And not one soul will even know -- nor will they care -- about her death.
Ideas, artwork, and context inspired by Neil Gaiman. A collaboration of my own photos and brushes, a photo of Annika's, Anna's brushes, and Nocturna's brushes.
Although I believe that this is less visually satisfying than the first, The Season of Mists III promises to be more so than its predecessors. That is, when I decide to continue with this sort of experimentation.
