Midnight Seductress

 <o:p>
</o:p>

The
midnight bells echo<o:p>
</o:p>

Within
my fraught mind. I<o:p>
</o:p>

Readily
close my eyes.<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

The
rousing sounds of your<o:p>
</o:p>

Mighty
forever wings<o:p>
</o:p>

Fill
my poisoned senses.<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

Awaken
my desire<o:p>
</o:p>

With
your eyes of rogue blue<o:p>
</o:p>

And
your cold caresses.<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

Steal
my sanity, love,<o:p>
</o:p>

Using
your scarlet kiss,<o:p>
</o:p>

your
maddening whispers.<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

I’d
give my life to you,<o:p>
</o:p>

I
would surrender all<o:p>
</o:p>

Just
to hold you again.<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

My
midnight seductress.<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

        The
midnight bells echo.

My
tortured awaiting has come to its end.<o:p>
</o:p>

I
lay upon the rose-laden satin<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

        Within
my fraught mind, I

Hear
the bells’ dark hymn, her unholy cries,<o:p>
</o:p>

Taking
me into the endless shadows.<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

Readily
close my eyes,<o:p>
</o:p>

Love,
against their wicked lies and against<o:p>
</o:p>

Their
tempting promises. I am yours.<o:p>
</o:p>

I
am yours alone.<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

        The
rousing sounds of your

Sweet
beckoning guides me into the light,<o:p>
</o:p>

Where
you lay upon rose-laden satin.<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

        Mighty
forever wings,

Cut
out by the gods from a dark night-sky,<o:p>
</o:p>

Are
soft as your silk skin beneath my touch.<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

Fill
my poisoned senses
,<o:p>
</o:p>

Love,
as you pull me closer to you still.<o:p>
</o:p>

I
am powerless to resist your wiles.<o:p>
</o:p>

I’ve
no desire to.<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

        Awaken
my desire

As
you murmur sweet nothings in my ear,<o:p>
</o:p>

As
you slowly, silently, disrobe me.<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

With
your eyes of rogue blue
,<o:p>
</o:p>

Spellbind
me; entrance me. Imprison me<o:p>
</o:p>

Within
the ice and the cobalt mist there.<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

        And
your cold caresses,

The
serpent’s dance, will slide over me, love.<o:p>
</o:p>

Your
woven onyx hair will tease my skin.<o:p>
</o:p>

You
will fulfill me.<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

Steal
my sanity, love,<o:p>
</o:p>

As
I lay beside you, one raven wing draped<o:p>
</o:p>

On
me. Your eyes gleam with untold secrets.<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

Using
your scarlet kiss,
<o:p>
</o:p>

You
burn all the questions out of my mind.<o:p>
</o:p>

Then,
with a smile, you whisper your farewell.<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

        Your
maddening whispers

Resonate
inside me as I journey<o:p>
</o:p>

Through
the darkness, into reality.<o:p>
</o:p>

Without
you near me.<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

I’d
give my life to you,
<o:p>
</o:p>

If
it means that I would never have to<o:p>
</o:p>

Wake
up and leave you behind in my dream.<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o:p>
</o:p>

        I would
surrender all

If
it means that I would never have to<o:p>
</o:p>

Open
my eyes and let you disappear.<o:p>
</o:p>

 <o[:p (Lick)]>
</o[:p (Lick)]>

Just
to hold you again,
<o[:p (Lick)]>
</o[:p (Lick)]>

I
would yield my very soul, for without<o[:p (Lick)]>
</o[:p (Lick)]>

You,
love, my soul would be empty, hollowed.<o[:p (Lick)]>
</o[:p (Lick)]>

I
would be nothing.<o[:p (Lick)]>
</o[:p (Lick)]>

 <o[:p (Lick)]>
</o[:p (Lick)]>

I
live for you<o[:p (Lick)]>
</o[:p (Lick)]>

I
breathe for you<o[:p (Lick)]>
</o[:p (Lick)]>

I
go on for you<o[:p (Lick)]>
</o[:p (Lick)]>

 <o[:p (Lick)]>
</o[:p (Lick)]>

I
wait only for midnight<o[:p (Lick)]>
</o[:p (Lick)]>

I
wait only for you<o[:p (Lick)]>
</o[:p (Lick)]>

     My midnight seductress.

My first poem with romantic overtones. The idea came to me this afternoon, during Math class (again. It seems that many of my ideas come to me at this time), and I wrote it a few hours ago.

I'm somewhat satisfied with the poem. Sometimes, the way to know when you're done is when there's nothing left to write. Such was the case here.

I used Elsie Russell's painting in the image.

Edit: I must apologize greatly for this: Brushes from Anna Sea of [link]. I'm sorry, Anna. I wasn't paying attention.

Comments are welcome. Constructive criticism is, as well, this being just my third poem.
